Poilievre demands ethics probe after government makes mistake of building homes instead of outrage

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has responded to a new federal-B.C. plan to convert vacant buildings into affordable housing by demanding an ethics investigation, confirming that in Canadian politics, the real housing crisis is the shortage of scandals.

As governments announced they would repurpose empty buildings into homes for struggling families, Poilievre reportedly worried Canadians might accidentally become distracted by shelter.

Conservatives insist someone must answer the far more pressing question of whether affordable housing was built in a procedurally offensive manner.

“Families may have roofs over their heads,” one strategist warned, “but has anyone considered the optics?”

At press time, Canadians searching for apartments were relieved to learn that while rent remained impossible, at least Ottawa was making meaningful progress toward ensuring no good deed escaped a parliamentary committee.
