UCP Announces $4.6 Billion AI Power Plant Expected To Create Nearly Enough Jobs To Staff A Tim Hortons
Premier Danielle Smith unveiled a $4.6-billion natural gas power plant this week, celebrating Alberta’s latest investment in artificial intelligence by proving it’s still considerably cheaper than investing in actual people.
The Greenlight Electricity Centre will eventually generate enough electricity to power a massive AI data centre while creating an astonishing 30 permanent jobs; finally solving Alberta’s labour shortage by eliminating the need for labour altogether.
Smith assured Albertans the nearby homes are over a kilometre away, confirming the government remains deeply committed to keeping the consequences of its decisions at least one kilometre from the press conference.
Officials also declined to discuss water consumption, apparently hoping Albertans would remain distracted by the words “pipeline,” “AI,” and “economic growth” long enough to forget that both computers and humans require basic resources to survive.
At press time, the UCP confirmed the project would lower electricity bills in exactly the same way grocery CEOs have been lowering food prices.
