In a move shocking absolutely no one, the RCMP has launched an investigation into Alberta Health Services (AHS) over allegations of misconduct, corruption, and what one officer described as “a culture of cutting corners so aggressively it’s now a circle.”
The probe comes after a string of complaints ranging from improper contracting practices to patient care decisions that could charitably be described as “experimental triage.”
AHS responded by assuring Albertans they take the allegations “seriously” and have formed a task force to look into the matter, chaired by the same people accused of wrongdoing.
Critics warn the RCMP investigation could take years, citing “staff shortages” and a tendency to get distracted by ceremonial parades. One insider quipped, “It’s Alberta—you’re more likely to see a doctor riding a horse than see anyone held accountable.”
