Danielle Smith Assures Calgary-Shaw Loss Just Another Example Of Ottawa Interfering With Alberta Elections

, , , ,

Premier Danielle Smith reassured Albertans Monday that the UCP losing a supposedly safe Calgary-Shaw seat is absolutely not a warning sign, because warning signs are woke now.

NDP candidate Kyle Campbell defeated the UCP’s Mike Derry by 582 votes after residents cited unaffordable bills, collapsing health care and overcrowded schools; three problems Smith promised to address immediately after finishing whatever she’s currently furious at Ottawa about.

The Premier reportedly dismissed suggestions her government may be alienating Calgary voters, noting her mandate comes from “Albertans,” a term increasingly understood to mean people who already agree with Danielle Smith.

UCP strategists blamed the defeat on advance ballots, Nenshi, unions, Trudeau, the CBC, suspiciously literate suburbs and voters continuing to experience provincial services firsthand.

At press time, Smith had invoked the Sovereignty Act against Calgary-Shaw and ordered Elections Alberta to check whether 582 voters could legally be declared British Columbia.
