Trump’s plan to make America indispensable successfully teaches Canada how to stop buying American shit

Donald Trump’s campaign to make America economically indispensable continued flawlessly this week as Chapman’s Ice Cream announced it is eliminating most of its American suppliers.

The Canadian manufacturer expects to replace more than 70% of its U.S.-sourced ingredients by mid-2027, proving Trump’s tariffs have achieved their intended purpose of encouraging foreign companies to discover literally anyone else.

Chapman’s is now helping develop ingredients never previously manufactured in Canada, creating domestic capacity that may permanently outlive the trade war that accidentally inspired it.

The company also backed Ottawa abandoning trade talks, apparently recognizing negotiations become difficult when one side treats international commerce like a protection racket run by a casino owner who bankrupted casinos.

Chapman’s has nevertheless frozen prices until 2028, denying Canadians the authentic American experience of paying more because their president saw a trade deficit on television and became furious.
