The Justice Department confirmed Tuesday it will investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s sprawling network of bankers, influencers and Democrats whose names appear in newly released congressional emails, an operation officials described as “like opening a cursed celebrity yearbook.”
President Donald Trump, citing what he called “1,600 reasons,” announced he had asked Attorney General Pam Bondi and the FBI to “look into everyone except me, unless it helps.” Bondi vowed the probe would be handled with “urgency and integrity,” a combination Washington last saw briefly in 1987.
Democrats quickly accused Trump of deflection, noting that the email trove also included plenty of mentions of him, so many that interns reportedly formed a support group. The House Oversight Committee, still reeling from the sheer volume of famous names, clarified that inclusion on an email thread is “not, in fact, a felony,” though it may become one if members have to read any more of them.
