Trump Ambassador Warns of ‘Stormy’ U.S.-Canada Relations

, , , , ,

In what sounded less like diplomacy and more like weather reporting, a potential U.S. Ambassador to Canada declared this week that relations with Canada remain trapped in a “storm” provoked by the reaction Canadians had to the Trump administration. The remarks came during “divisive” time in American politics with the love for Trump in the north somewhere between “barely registering” and “still alive”, warning that trust with America’s polite northern neighbor is “blown off course.”

Analysts note the “storm” began with trade disputes, dairy fights, and Trump once calling Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau “weak.” Meteorologists, however, have confirmed that the cold front is strictly metaphorical.

Canadian officials, when asked to comment, sighed heavily and went back to hockey. Meanwhile, U.S. voters appeared largely unmoved, with one man at the rally saying: “Canada? You mean that place with the syrup?”
