Alberta Referendum Website Features State-Of-The-Art Technology to Ask Questions Government Has Already Decided Answers To
The Alberta government is defending spending more than $300,000 on a website explaining this October’s referendum, proving once again that nothing says “government efficiency” quite like paying Bay Street rates to ask Albertans ten questions.
Officials insist the site isn’t propaganda because it also includes an FAQ, carefully answering the questions voters might have before asking them the questions government wants answered.
Internal records show price counted for just 20 per cent of the contract evaluation, confirming taxpayers were never at risk of accidentally getting good value for their money.
Government sources say the investment was necessary because constitutional debates deserve a polished user experience, especially when you’re trying to convince people that sovereignty starts with a professionally animated landing page and a navigation menu that costs more than most Albertans make in a year.
