Epstein’s Ghost Writes Again: Democrats, Trump, and the World’s Most Awkward Inbox

, , , , ,

The late financier and full-time scandal factory Jeffrey Epstein has managed to haunt politics yet again, this time via a batch of newly unsealed emails suggesting Donald Trump “knew about the girls.” What he knew, and when he knew it, remains as mysterious as Epstein’s real source of income, or his security camera footage.

Democrats on the House Oversight Committee, clearly nostalgic for the golden era of bipartisan disgust, released the emails Wednesday. In one 2011 message, Epstein wrote to Ghislaine Maxwell that Trump had “spent hours” at his house with a trafficking victim. Republicans dismissed the disclosure as a “desperate Halloween rerun,” while the White House accused Democrats of “grave-digging for poll numbers.”

Meanwhile, historians noted that “knew about the girls” could mean anything, from awareness of Epstein’s crimes to merely surviving one of his dinner parties without blinking.
