Danielle Smith Discovers ‘Fuck The Establishment’ Gets Complicated Once You’re The Establishment

Danielle Smith is facing calls for a leadership review after the political movement she spent years teaching to distrust every institution finally worked its way down the list to Danielle Smith.

The Calgary-Buffalo UCP board voted 13–3 to seek an early review, with critics reportedly accusing Smith of betraying the grassroots by opposing Alberta independence and insufficiently fighting Ottawa.

It marks an awkward milestone for Smith, who built a political brand around the premise that compromise is surrender, institutions are enemies and anyone insufficiently furious is probably working for Ottawa.

Unfortunately, Smith is now an institution.

Party officials responded by citing her 91% leadership approval, apparently unaware that overwhelming establishment approval is exactly the sort of thing they taught everyone to be suspicious of.

Smith reportedly remains confident she can regain control of the monster, just as soon as it finishes eating her.
