Coal Falls Behind Solar Despite Administration’s Aggressive War On The Future

, , , , ,

Solar energy officially generated more electricity than coal in May, dealing another blow to federal efforts to ensure America’s grandchildren inherit the exact same problems as their great-grandparents.

The achievement came despite ongoing attempts to revive coal, an energy source most commonly associated with industrial pollution, black lung disease, and history documentaries narrated over footage of children carrying lunch pails into mines.

Energy analysts say solar’s growth was driven by falling costs and technological improvements, while coal’s decline was driven by the passage of time.

“We’re losing an industry that powered America for generations,” said one coal advocate. “Without coal, how will future children develop the character-building experience of watching a river catch fire?”

At press time, coal lobbyists were urging Congress to classify sunsets as government overreach.
