Alberta Unions Warn Premier: “If You Take on One of Us, You’re Taking on All of Us – and Our Lawyers”

In a rare display of unity and matching T-shirts, Alberta’s major unions gathered this week to warn Premier Danielle Smith that any attempt to weaken worker rights will be met with “unrelenting solidarity, plus a few very stern Facebook posts.”

Union leaders said the province’s workforce was “done being polite,” a threat that sent shockwaves through Edmonton’s coffee shops. The premier’s office reportedly responded by quietly Googling “how to divide unions using tax credits.”

The coalition of teachers, nurses, and public sector workers vowed to “stand shoulder to shoulder,” though some admitted they’d prefer to do so on alternating weekends due to burnout and budget cuts.

Political analysts say the showdown could get messy, with one noting, “This is Alberta – the only thing more combustible than oil is organized labor that’s just realized it’s organized.”
