Alberta Separatist Promises To Free Province Right After Explaining Where Everyone Else’s Money Went
A judge has frozen up to $8.5 million in assets belonging to Alberta separatist lawyer Jeffrey Rath, raising difficult questions about whether the first thing to achieve Alberta sovereignty is making sure your assets achieve it first.
Rath, a leading salesman of the province’s perpetual independence fantasy, has spent years convincing frustrated Albertans that every problem can be solved by cutting ties with everyone else. Court documents now suggest his own financial arrangements have inspired considerably less confidence, with a judge issuing an extraordinary freezing order while allegations over First Nation trust funds make their way through court. The allegations remain unproven.
Supporters insist this changes nothing, explaining that separating gullible people from reality has always been Rath’s most successful demonstration of sovereignty.
