Alberta Hosts Secret Education Summit, Accidentally Invites Only People Who Hate Public Education

, , ,

In what officials are calling a “routine stakeholder engagement,” Danielle Smith and Demetrios Nicolaides apparently hosted what can only be described as Coachella for people who think libraries are too spicy.

Held quietly at Calgary’s McDougall Centre, the February meeting brought together a greatest-hits lineup of think tanks, parental rights groups, and private school advocates, basically, anyone who’s ever looked at a rainbow sticker and whispered, “this feels like a slippery slope.”

While names were redacted for privacy, the guest list reads like a group project titled “Let’s Reinvent Public Education, But Make It Optional.” Among the attendees: organizations already credited with helping curate Alberta’s ongoing “Oops, All Book Bans” initiative.

Critics say the meeting raises questions about influence. Supporters say it’s just democracy in action, like a town hall, if the town were carefully pre-selected.

At press time, public school funding was last seen nervously refreshing its inbox, still waiting for an invite.
