Alberta Education Introduces “Survive the Day” Curriculum for Staff
The Government of Alberta confirmed this week that the province’s most advanced educational innovation is, in fact, a single Grade 1 classroom attempting to contain all known human experiences simultaneously.
In a report submitted to CBC News, one teacher described calmly restraining a child mid-headbutt while teaching phonics to 26 others, 10 of whom are learning English, two of whom are learning what English is, and all of whom are learning that adults can, in fact, blink one eye at a time.
Officials praised the setup as “efficient,” noting it successfully combines special education, language immersion, grief counseling, and crisis response into a single unpaid overtime shift.
The teacher, who asked to remain anonymous, said she cried on the way home after realizing she hadn’t checked on a grieving student.
The province responded by reminding educators that emotional moments should be scheduled during lunch, or ideally, outside of contract hours.
A spokesperson added the model is “working as intended,” as no one has physically exploded…yet.
