Alberta separatists unveil plan to escape Canada by becoming the parts of America Canadians were trying to avoid
The Alberta Prosperity Project has unveiled its vision for an independent Alberta, featuring a president, open-carry gun laws, a 10% income-tax ceiling and a Supreme Court in Grande Prairie, because apparently the problem with Canada was insufficient opportunities to bring an AR-15 to Costco.
APP CEO Mitch Sylvestre stressed the 54-page “Foundation of Freedom” is only a discussion paper, allowing separatists plenty of time to decide whether the Supreme Court should sit beside a Canadian Tire or inside one.
Sylvestre compared the process to drafting the U.S. Constitution, whose authors similarly dreamed of liberty, representative government and making Grande Prairie the judicial capital of something.
The proposal promises Albertans freedom from Ottawa, low taxes and guns everywhere.
Or, as constitutional scholars call it, “a divorce settlement written by the guy your ex starts dating.”
