Alberta Court confirms trustee constitutionally entitled to be terrible person for free

, , , ,

Alberta’s Court of Appeal has upheld the disqualification of former Red Deer Catholic trustee Monique LaGrange, confirming school trustees may technically compare queer children to Hitler Youth, but school boards are not legally required to keep paying them afterward.

The court did overturn an order compelling LaGrange to apologize, preserving her Charter-protected right to remain exactly as sorry as she was before.

Free-speech advocates celebrated the ruling as a major victory for the important democratic principle that nobody can force you to develop basic human decency.

LaGrange is now free to continue portraying herself as the victim of consequences she personally ordered, assembled, and shipped directly to her own doorstep.

Fortunately, the children she compared to Nazis are also finally protected; from having Monique LaGrange as their trustee.
