UCP Saves Alberta Children From Books at Bargain Price of $100,000 Per Library
The St. Albert Public Library expects to spend roughly $100,000 next year complying with Alberta’s new library restrictions, successfully converting money previously wasted on books into the more important task of protecting Albertans from them.
Under Bill 28, library staff will devote additional resources to identifying, relocating, securing and administering materials the provincial government considers dangerous enough to require special handling, but apparently not dangerous enough to actually ban.
The system allows the UCP to preserve every conservative principle simultaneously: smaller government through additional bureaucracy, fiscal responsibility through additional costs, and freedom through restricted access.
Officials emphasized the legislation protects parents from the terrifying possibility that their children might encounter an idea without first receiving permission from Dan Williams.
The library has budgeted $100,000.
The culture war remains fully funded.
