Alberta Warns of Measles Exposure While Province Continues Brave Experiment With Preventable Diseases

, , , ,

A routine public health warning took on a slightly philosophical tone this week after the province announced potential measles exposure at Stollery Children’s Hospital and University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton.

Officials say anyone who visited a long list of clinics, corridors, elevators, and at least one extremely unlucky pedway on Feb. 25 or Feb. 28 may have been exposed to the virus; an illness once largely controlled before it was bravely reintroduced to society through the power of vibes.

The advisory notes measles spreads easily through the air, a feature public health experts describe as “inconvenient” for people who prefer their science optional.

Anyone born after 1970 who hasn’t received two doses of the vaccine is considered at risk, though the province reassured residents that personal responsibility remains the first line of defense, closely followed by thoughts, prayers, and aggressive Googling.

Meanwhile, Premier Danielle Smith has not commented directly on the exposure but is widely believed to support Albertans’ fundamental right to make their own medical decisions, particularly the historically popular choice of getting measles.
