In a move that stunned absolutely no one who has followed the last decade of American politics, former President Donald Trump abruptly withdrew his support for longtime ally Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Tuesday, explaining that their “once beautiful relationship” had been damaged by “creative differences in the field of imaginative policymaking.”
Greene, who built a political brand on saying the quiet part loudly and then insisting she never said it, reportedly learned of the breakup from a Truth Social post featuring Trump giving a thumbs-down next to the words “Too weird, even for me.”
Sources close to the former president said he had grown concerned that Greene’s increasingly baroque conspiracy theories were “overshadowing his own, more classic catalogue.” One aide noted, “He likes the hits. She’s been doing deep cuts.”
Greene responded by promising to reveal “the real reason” for Trump’s decision, just as soon as she finishes researching it on YouTube.
