Empty Chair at Council Chambers Reportedly Polling Higher Than Tim Cartmell

, , , ,

Mayoral candidate and part-time city councilor Tim Cartmell is apologizing after missing a pivotal vote on infill development, citing an unfortunate mix-up between civic duty and “scrolling Instagram for campaign photo ideas.”

“I thought infill was scheduled for later in the day,” Cartmell explained, adding that he assumed “infill” was either a new craft beer or a yoga position. “Turns out it was about housing. My bad.”

Critics have pounced on the absence, suggesting Cartmell’s leadership style may involve “more missing than leading.” One rival quipped, “At least we know he won’t gentrify your neighborhood – he won’t show up.”

Cartmell vowed to do better, promising to Google “infill” and set multiple alarms. “I’m deeply committed to building a better Edmonton,” he said, “just as soon as I figure out where City Hall is.”
