Parents Leave Child with Pastor to Protest Drag Story Hour, Irony Left Unsupervised

, , , ,

A local couple sparked mild confusion and maximum irony after leaving their 6-year-old son with their church pastor so they could attend a protest against a public library’s drag queen story hour.

“We just don’t think it’s appropriate for children to be around men in makeup and dresses,” said father Dan Buckley, handing his kid over to Reverend Carl, who was wearing clerical robes and eyeliner for the evening’s youth choir recital.

The pastor, previously under investigation in 2018 for “excessive fellowship,” declined to comment but did offer juice boxes, a 3-hour sermon on Leviticus, and an altar boy was quick to point out, in the Reverend’s defense, that the church was at least 500 yards from the closest school (as court mandated).

Library staff noted the protesting parents missed a wholesome reading of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Miss Juicy Couture, a former kindergarten teacher and current queen of literacy.

Officials say the child is safe, if a bit confused about why grownups are so weird about storytime.
