“Feathered Marxist”. Marjorie Taylor Greene Accuses Sesame Street of Spreading Communism
In her latest foray into America’s culture war, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has identified a new threat to freedom: Sesame Street. According to Greene, the beloved children’s show is a covert communist indoctrination program disguised in puppets and primary colors.
In a now-viral tweet, she accused Big Bird of being a “Marxist freeloader” who lives in public housing, has no job, and advocates for free vaccines — “the trifecta of socialist dependency.” She also claimed Elmo is “teaching kids to redistribute wealth through sharing,” while Oscar the Grouch represents “radical environmentalism from inside a trash can commune.”
Greene’s suspicions deepened during a Facebook Live filmed inside a Cracker Barrel, where she theorized that Bert and Ernie were part of a progressive plot to “normalize duck-based domestic partnerships.” She then held up a copy of Das Kapital, allegedly found inside a Snuffleupagus toy, though it appeared to be from her own Amazon cart.
PBS declined to engage, stating that Sesame Street’s curriculum includes letters, numbers, and the occasional cookie binge — none of which, they emphasized, are part of an effort to destroy capitalism.
Unfazed, Greene has proposed a bill to defund PBS and replace it with her own show, Patriot Patch’s Freedom Fort, starring a bald eagle sock puppet who teaches toddlers how to spot communists and exercise their Second Amendment rights. The pilot episode is reportedly sponsored by a company that manufactures Kevlar bibs and tactical crayons.
Critics are calling it absurd, but Greene stands firm: “The real red menace isn’t China — it’s Che Elmo.”
