Canada Celebrates Historic Indigenous Rights Meeting by Having Exact Same Conversation as 43 Years Ago

, , , ,

Canadian political leaders are celebrating a historic breakthrough in Indigenous reconciliation after agreeing to hold a meeting remarkably similar to one that accomplished fuck-all in 1983.

“This is an important opportunity to listen,” said one government official, confirming Canada remains firmly committed to hearing Indigenous concerns without developing the dangerous habit of addressing them. First Nations leaders arrived demanding tangible results, while premiers prepared their traditional offerings of sympathetic nodding, jurisdictional excuses, and absolutely no fucking money. Officials praised the gathering as a significant step forward, noting that previous steps forward had somehow brought everyone back to exactly where they started.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to meaningful dialogue and plans to reconvene in 2069, when Indigenous leaders will once again be invited to explain why they’re still waiting.
