EU Fines Elon Musk $1 Billion. Finds Change Between Couch Cushions

In a historic display of European regulatory might, the EU has levied a $1 billion fine against Elon Musk and his social media pet project, Twitter (currently known as X). The fine, issued for a variety of transgressions including misinformation, data violations, and the general crime of being too online, was meant to send a message: even billionaires are not above the law.

Musk, upon receiving the notice, reportedly paused for three seconds, blinked, and said, “Oh. Is that all?

Sources close to the billionaire claim he briefly considered selling one of his lesser-used rockets, but ultimately opted to pay the fine using interest accrued during his morning coffee break. He is also rumored to have sent the payment in Dogecoin “for the meme.”

The European Commission released a stern statement emphasizing the seriousness of the penalty, while Musk tweeted a GIF of a shrugging raccoon with the caption “lol.” He followed this up with a poll asking if he should buy the EU and rebrand it as “Upsilon.”

Regulators hoped this massive fine would set an example, but instead it seems to have inspired Musk to launch a new feature on Twitter (currently known as X) called “Censorship is Sexy,” which uses AI-generated avatars of bureaucrats whispering the First Amendment in various languages.

Experts warn that while the fine is significant by most standards, to Musk it’s roughly equivalent to a mid-range yacht impulse buy. “It’s like taxing a dragon one gold coin for torching a village,” said one analyst. “He probably just thought it was Tuesday.”

The EU maintains that justice has been served. Musk, meanwhile, has changed his display name to “$999,999,999.99 Richer.”
