Danielle Smith Announces Alberta’s Hate Speech Laws Unfairly Discriminate Against Her Supporters

, , , ,

Having apparently exhausted every opportunity to make life worse for vulnerable Albertans, Premier Danielle Smith is now considering removing the legal obstacles preventing her supporters from openly celebrating their hatred of them.

Speaking alongside Ezra Levant at a Rebel Media event, Smith argued that freedom of expression must include the right to publicly demonstrate why human rights legislation was necessary in the first place. The proposed changes would remove another inconvenient obstacle between Alberta’s far-right movement and its dream of turning the province into a comment section with oil royalties.Government officials insist the move isn’t about legitimizing hatred, but rather ensuring bigots enjoy the same protections as the minorities they’re targeting.

At press time, Smith reassured concerned Albertans that repealing hate speech protections wouldn’t encourage extremism, just eliminate the paperwork involved in pretending to oppose it.
