Alberta Rejects Ottawa’s Dental Plan in Favour of Locally Sourced Neglect
Alberta’s UCP government will pursue its own dental and drug plans despite voters rejecting a broader federal opt-out proposal, warning that living in Alberta does not entitle people to interfere in provincial affairs.
“We believe health care decisions belong closer to home,” said a spokesperson. “Specifically, the homes of cabinet ministers.”
The government said it respects the majority who voted no and looks forward to respecting them again when they complain about coverage.
Officials continue demanding federal money with no strings attached, particularly the string connecting funding to an actual patient.
“Albertans deserve a made-in-Alberta solution,” the spokesperson added. “Ottawa keeps treating your teeth like something you should be allowed to keep.”
