In what experts are calling “the most 2025 headline imaginable,” Elon Musk has reached a confidential settlement with the creators of Cards Against Humanity, who had sued him for $15 million over what they described as “an unpaid joke gone too far.”
The dispute began when Musk allegedly commissioned the company to design a custom card pack titled Cards Against Humanity: Mars Edition, then refused to pay, claiming “humor is open-source.” The game makers responded with a 37-page lawsuit written entirely in the format of their own cards, accusing Musk of “being a billionaire who thinks irony is a currency.”
While terms of the settlement remain secret, insiders say it involves both money and “a lifetime ban from making dad jokes on X.” Musk posted a single comment after the news broke: “I settled ironically.”
The internet remains unsure whether that was the punchline, or the problem.
