Apocalypse Now, With Filters: TikTok Revives the Rapture

,

A new wave of doomsday predictions is sweeping TikTok, proving that the platform can make even the end of days go viral. The so-called “Rapture” trend warns that the chosen few will be whisked off to heaven, leaving the rest of us behind to fight over canned soup and phone chargers.

The hashtag #EndTimes has racked up millions of views, often accompanied by slow-motion clips of clouds set to dramatic audio, because nothing says “apocalypse” like a TikTok soundbite. Some creators even post “Rapture outfits of the day,” suggesting that if you’re about to be vaporized, you may as well look good doing it.

Religious scholars remain unimpressed, noting that people have been predicting the world’s fiery conclusion since at least the Middle Ages, and so far the only thing reliably ending is everyone’s patience. Still, TikTok proves one thing: the apocalypse will be live-streamed, liked, and looped.
