Drake is back in legal court, because apparently a Grammy-winning rapper can’t just shrug off being called a “certified pedophile” in a song. On Wednesday, the superstar formally launched his appeal against Universal Music Group, hoping to reverse a recent federal ruling that dismissed his defamation lawsuit over Kendrick Lamar’s diss track Not Like Us.
Drake’s lawyers insist that millions of fans, clearly armed with impeccable fact-checking skills, took Kendrick’s lyrics literally, which allegedly caused untold emotional and financial damage. “We believe in accountability,” one lawyer said, presumably while drafting the appeal in gold-plated ink.
Kendrick, meanwhile, has not commented, but sources say he’s considering writing a follow-up track titled Still Not Like Us. As for Drake, the message is clear: when it comes to feuds, there’s no statute of limitations, and apparently, no end to court filings either.
