Marvel Pulls Plug on New Projects; Devastation for ‘Hollywood of the South’

,

Atlanta, long dubbed the “Hollywood of the South,” just learned what every Marvel character eventually does: even heroes vanish without warning. The studio abruptly pulled the plug on upcoming projects, leaving thousands of crew members, caterers, and people who rented out their backyards for explosion scenes suddenly unemployed.

Local businesses, once fat with Marvel money, now face lean times. The coffee shops where extras once bragged about their half-second of screen time are eerily quiet, and a local dry cleaner reported “a shocking drop in spandex-related emergencies.”

Georgia officials, who once boasted about luring Hollywood South with tax breaks, are now muttering about “creative opportunities in zombie tourism.” Residents, meanwhile, are left asking whether Atlanta can still be a movie capital without superheroes blowing up parking lots.

For now, the city waits, clutching souvenir Thor hammers and wondering if Atlanta’s most profitable character arc has already ended.
