Trump Accuses Canada Of Election Interference After Canadian Officials Accurately Describe His Policies
The Trump administration has accused Canada of interfering in American elections by committing the unprecedented diplomatic offence of noticing what the United States is doing.
The U.S. Embassy condemned Canadian officials for criticizing American tariffs, warning that publicly discussing the consequences of Trump’s policies could unfairly influence voters into understanding them. “Foreign interference is a serious threat to democracy,” explained a White House official, adding that Russia remains a valued strategic partner in the democratic process.
Prime Minister Mark Carney denied attempting to influence the midterms, insisting Canada was merely defending its economy from a government apparently determined to make protectionism look like a hostage situation.
Washington has demanded Ottawa stop discussing tariffs, lost jobs, and economic damage ahead of November’s vote. “American elections must be decided by Americans,” the White House clarified, “and whichever foreign government answers when we call.”
